Graphics CardDefinition
A graphics card which is also known as a video card, "consists of a graphics processing unit designed to help process and display images" (http://www.ehow.com/facts_5128286_definition-graphics-card.html) more quickly on a computer's moniter. Function Graphics cards "help take the processing strain off the main processor, and can contain their own memory to take strain off the system RAM" (http://www.ehow.com/facts_5128286_definition-graphics-card.html). In order to do this the card must process information from the CPU, then turn it into pixels and images that appear on your monitor. Description and concrete example of how it affects the end user A graphics card is needed so that you can see what you are doing on your computer. If there is not a graphics card nothing will show up on the monitor and you will not be able to do anything on the computer such as internet browsing, word processing, etc. Recommendations Graphics cards are more important to gamers and they spend much more money on them. As a student you will still need a graphics card but not a high end one. I would recommend getting a lower end graphics card that is not too expensive. |
